Power restored to Standing Rock Sioux Reservation
Power is finally being restored to the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation after a severe winter storm forced about 500 families to seek shelter.

The tribe has been providing shelter for people affected by the storm and the power outage. “This storm kind of put us in a bind,” Chairman Charles Murphy.told The Bismarck Tribune.

It could take weeks before power is restored throughout the reservation. But some communities have electricity again.

"The first thing we are doing is to make sure we have places for people to stay,” Murphy said.

The reservation straddles the North Dakota and South Dakota border.
