IKBI, Inc., a general contracting firm owned by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, has eliminated over half of its workforce.
The firm laid off 47 people last week. That leaves only 27 people with jobs.
"The tribe has been working through all its businesses and enterprises, evaluating and ensuring profitability and long-term survival," Joshua Breedlove, chairman of the board of directors, told The Neshoba Democrat. "It was IKBI's turn on the list to be looked at."
Breedlove said IKBI hopes to bring in more business.
