Six men have been charged in connection with the death of a Native gang member in a prison in Saskatchewan.

Daniel Richard Wolfe, 33, who was said to be an influential member of the Indian Posse, was killed on January 4. Two men were charged with second-degree murder and four others were charged with manslaughter.

Wolfe was one of six Native inmates who escaped from a prison in Saskatchewan in August 2008. Incidentally, one of the men charged with manslaughter -- Ryan Agecoutay, 27 -- also escaped.

Most of the men who escaped were tied to Native gangs. Wolfe claimed they were being denied access to Native ceremonies while in prison.
