House Resources hearing on land-into-trust fix
The House Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing on Wednesday, November 4, to consider a fix the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Carcieri v. Salazar.

The decision bars tribes that weren't "under federal jurisdiction" in 1934 from following the land-into-trust process. H.R.3697 and H.R.3742 amend the Indian Reorganization Act to ensure that all tribes, regardless of the date of recognition, can benefit.

The two bills were introduced separately but they are essentially the same. H.R.3742 has more sponsors.

The hearing will take place at 10am in Room 1324 of the Longworth House Office Building.

In other news, the hearing on the federal recognition bill that was to take place today has been postponed.
