Santee Sioux grave dig being investigated
The Santee Sioux Tribe and the Knox County Sheriff's Office are investigating the disturbance of a burial site on the reservation.

A non-Indian man who owns land on the reservation said he uncovered a man and a woman during some routine work. But there is a question about whether he turned over all of the remains to authorities as required by state law.

The ancestors date to pre-historic times, according to the state archeologist, who said they will probably be repatriated to the tribe. The tribe and the sheriff are meeting today to discuss the incident.
