Montana tribe helps annual bison roundup
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service conducted the annual roundup at the National Bison Range in Montana.

The tribe handles some functions at the range through an annual funding agreement that was negotiated under federal law. The roundup is one of the functions.

The range is located entirely within the Flathead Reservation. The bison herd descends from animals that were raised by tribal members.
