Pilar Thomas, a member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe of Arizona, is joining the Office of the Solicitor at the Interior Department.
Thomas will serve as Deputy Solicitor for Indian Affairs, The Phoenix Business Journal reported. She will work under Solicitor HIlary Tompkins, a member of the Navajo Nation who is the first Native American woman in Interior's top legal post.
Thomas most recently worked for the Lewis & Roca firm.
