Quapaw Tribe wants to run water service for town
The Quapaw Tribe wants to assume ownership and operation for water service for a small town.

Many residents of Picher have accepted a federal buyout to leave their homes. The tribe plans to provide water service for those that remain.

The town is located in the Tar Creek Superfund site. Most of the land in the area is owned by individual Indians or the tribe.
