South Dakota tribes meet with US Senators
Leaders of all nine South Dakota tribes met with Sen. Tim Johnson (D-South Dakota) and Sen. John Thune (R-South Dakota) on Monday.

Tribal leaders discussed a wide range of issues, from law enforcement to education to health care. "It’s time for a change. It’s time for the federal government to step up to the plate now," said Oglala Sioux Tribe President Theresa Two Bulls, the Associated Press reported.

Thune and Johnson recently asked the Obama administration about the status of a report into the $2 billion Emergency Fund for Indian Safety and Health that Congress created last year. They want to know how the Interior, Health and Human Services and Justice departments will address health, public safety and water issues in Indian Country.
