Blackfeet elder Annie Mad Plume Wall dies at 95
Annie Mad Plume Wall, an elder from the Blackfeet Nation of Montana, died on Sunday. She was 95.

Wall, whose Indian name was Yellow Fox Woman, was born in 1914. She was raised by her grandparents in the buffalo way of life.

"She was someone who spanned from the buffalo days to her text-messaging her great-great-grandchildren," granddaughter Rosalyn LaPier told The Great Falls Tribune.

As one of the last fluent speakers of Blackfeet, Wall helped preserve and record the language and other traditional knowledge.
