A law enforcement agreement between the Blackfeet Nation and Glacier County, Montana, is being delayed but officials are still working together on a temporary basis.

The county needs more time to inform the public about its intent to sign the agreement. An issue over liability insurance also needs to be resolved.

The agreement allows tribal officers to enforce state law over non-Indians. County sheriff's deputies will be cross-deputized to enforce tribal laws on the reservation against tribal members and other Native Americans.
