Former Oglala Sioux leader faces drug sentencing
Don Garnier, a former council member for the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, faces sentencing on drug charges on June 10.

Garnier pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute less than 50 kilograms of marijuana for a September 2007 incident in New Mexico. He was due to be sentenced last year but went into outpatient treatment in South Dakota instead.

However, Garnier failed a recent drug test so he was arrested again. He will be sentenced in federal court in New Mexico.

Garnier was forced to resign from the tribal council after being charged.
