Oklahoma governor vetoes tribal charter school bill
Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry (D) vetoed a bill that would have allowed tribes to sponsor charter schools.

Henry said tribes already have the ability to start their own schools. "SB 586 is duplicative of current law and unnecessary," he said in a veto message, The Tulsa World reported.

Sen. John Ford (R), the bill's sponsor, said tribes should have the option to create schools that reflect their needs.
