St. Regis Mohawk Tribe acquires 1851 petition
The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York acquired a historic petition from 1851.

Subchief Pamela Brown bid on the item at a recent auction but lost to another buyer, who decided to offer it to the tribe for the price he paid.

The tribe is now studying the document, which essentially details a land claim. Tribal members were demanding rent payment on lands that were taken from them.
