The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota has been hit with a $2.4 million levy after losing a sovereign immunity dispute with an Indian-owned company.

The tribe failed to pay $1.5 million to C&W Construction. But the levy was issued in South Dakota for the higher amount, The Rapid City Journal reports.

The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the tribe waived its immunity through four contracts with C&W.
