Detoxification center stays alive with $1.5M from IHS
A detoxification facility that serves people near the Navajo Nation expects to remain in operation with $1.5 million from the Indian Health Service.

Na’nizhoozhi Center Inc in Gallup, New Mexico, was in danger of closing by May due to lack of funds and poor financial management. But the Navajo Nation says it will share IHS funds to keep the facility open for at least another year.

Police in Gallup last year placed about 17,000 people at NCI. The deputy police chief said the center has been a big help.
