A bank owned by the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is warning customers of a potential theft of their personal and financial data.

The Borrego Springs Bank said seven computers containing customer information were stolen from a third-party auditing firm on March 5. The theft wasn't reported to the bank until March 18, an executive said.

“Borrego Springs Bank is promptly responding to an isolated incident involving customer information provided to a contracted third party accounting firm, " Julie Smart, the bank's executive vice president and chief administrative officer, said in a statement quoted by The San Diego Union-Tribune. " We value our customer relationships and the trust and confidence they place in us. We sincerely regret any concern or inconvenience this incident may have caused.”

The bank specializes in financial services for individual Indians and tribes.
