Colville Tribes end contract with executive director
The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation in Washington terminated its contract with John Gonzales, a former president of the National Congress of American Indians, who served as he executive director for the tribal council for barely a year.

Tribal leaders appeared to praise Gonzales but Chairwoman Jeanne A. Jerred said he wasn't a good "fit" for the tribe. "I wish him well," a council member said, The Omak Chronicle reported.

Gonzales is from San Ildefonso Pueblo in New Mexico.
