Fort Peck Tribes seek money for slaughtered bison
The Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of Montana are seeking $5,000 from a rancher who slaughtered four buffalo belonging to the tribes.

The animals wandered onto Walter Funk's property through a storm-damaged fence. He said he alerted local authorities but never heard back before shooting them. Two of the buffalo were pregnant.

The Blaine County Attorney is considering charges against Funk. In the meantime, the tribe has installed an electric fence to keep buffalo from wandering.
