Saginaw Chippewa Tribe mum on disenrollment

Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan is moving to disenroll some of its members, The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun reports.
The tribe won't comment on how many people might be removed or on what basis. But there are rumors of up to 125 adults being cut from the rolls.
"It would be irresponsible for us to discuss this very private and internal matter with anyone before we have the opportunity to discuss this with the Tribal Membership affected and the community as a whole," the tribe said in a statement.
The tribe will be mailing out a packet on the issue to its members, a spokesperson said.
