House panel to take testimony on Interior budget
Correction: The hearings take place Wednesday and Thursday.

The House Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, will take testimony from tribes, Alaska Natives and Indian organizations this week.

The subcommittee set aside four hearings for public witnesses. They take place at 9:30am and 1:30pm on Wednesday and again at 9:30am and 1:30pm on Thursday.

The Interior budget bill includes the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians and the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development, a tribal college in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The Indian Health Service is also covered by the Interior bill even though the agency is part of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The four hearings are not scheduled for webcast.
