Salt River Tribe might raise development fees
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community of Arizona might raise fees associated with new development on the reservation.

The one-time impact fees are used to pay for roads, water and sewer lines and other infrastructure on the reservation. They are needed because the tribe's options for raising revenues are limited , a spokesperson said.

"The SRPMIC offers a great location and opportunity to develop in an area that continues to flourish, but in order to support that growth, the infrastructure for that area has to be developed," spokesperson Levi Long told The Arizona Republic.

Some developers and tribal landowners are concerned about the fee hike, due to the national recession.
