First Nations wait on money for youth healing center
Native leaders in British Columbia have been told to wait until September to receive federal funds for a youth healing center.

B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell agreed to turn over a 13-acre site to the Ch-ihl-kway-uhk Tribe Society, a group of seven First Nations, and pledged $3 million for the Stehiaq Healing and Wellness Village. The First Nations provided $1 million for the project but they are still waiting on the government to meet its promise.

"We were supposed to be open in November, but that was put back to April 1, and now it's going to be September," Chief Frank Malloway, the chairman of the Ch-ihl-kway-uhk Tribe Society, told The Globe and Mail.

Government officials declined to comment.
