Editorial: Recognize Stewart Udall's contributions
"Congress should approve legislation introduced last week to add Stewart L. Udall's name and incorporate his sterling legacy to the Morris K. Udall Foundation.

Mo Udall served in Congress as a Democratic representative from Arizona's second district from 1961 to 1991. He succeeded his brother, Stewart, who had represented the district from 1955 until he left Congress to serve as U.S. Secretary of Interior under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.

It's appropriate that Stewart Udall's contribution be recognized along with his brother's by renaming the foundation the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation.

The foundation is also a founder of the Native Nations Institute (NNI), a graduate education and policy center that teaches a new way of governance on the reservations, embracing tribal identity and smart business practices to help Indian nations rebuild their economies. There are more than 1,100 young Udall Scholars and Udall Native American interns around the country."
