Oklahoma sues Creek Nation smoke shops over taxes
The Oklahoma Tax Commission filed a lawsuit in state court against 15 owners and managers of Muscogee (Creek) Nation smoke shops.

The lawsuit accuses the defendants of conspiring to violate federal and state laws. The smoke shops are selling cigarettes without the proper tax stamps, according to the state.

The tribe lacks a tobacco tax compact so state officials have been looking into business practices of tribal retailers.
