Navajo water settlement in omnibus lands bill
The Navajo Nation water settlement is part of the omnibus public lands bill being considered by the Senate.

The deal resolves the tribe's water rights on the San Juan River in New Mexico. The tribe will receive 600,000 acre-feet per year.

The settlement also authorizes an $870 million major pipeline that will serve communities on and off the reservation. The Bush administration had balked at the size and cost of the project.

The bill is S.22.
