San Manuel Band to donate $4.5M to charities
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California plans to donate $4.5 million to charities at a special event next month, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.

Chairman James Ramos said the tribe wants to live up to its philanthropic mission despite the tough economic times. "We are not saying we are going to be the financial rescuer for these organizations, but we want to do our part," he told the paper.

The money will go to more than 20 charities, foundations, schools and other organizations. The grants are expected to range from $10,000 to $2 million.
