Ex-school commission chair discusses resignation
The former chairman of the Indian Residential Schools Truth and Reconciliation Commission discussed his sudden resignation in a speech on Thursday.

Harry LaForme, an Ontario appeal court justice and member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, said he expected his vision would guide the commission's work. But two other commissioners disagreed with his authority, he said.

"My moral code includes that I must be always mindful of what it means to be marginalized and ignored, to have despair and no hope," LaForme said at the Ryerson University in Toronto, CBC News reported.

The remaining commissioners dispute LaForme's claims, which include allegations of meddling by the Assembly of First Nations. The Canadian government is trying to decide how to move the group's work forward.
