Chippewa Cree primary election in dispute
Members of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana went to the polls in October but the results of the primary election remain in dispute.

Candidate Kenneth Blatt St. Marks failed to advance to the general election by 45 votes. He filed an election challenge, which was rejected, then turned to tribal court, where a judge threw out of the results of the primary.

The tribal election board plans to appeal the ruling, saying the judge lacked authority to take action. The tribe's general election was supposed to take place on Tuesday.
