Longtime Mashantucket leader voted out of office
Kenneth Reels, a longtime leader of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut, lost a bid for re-election on Sunday.

Reels, the incumbent vice chairman, has served as chairman and a council member for nearly 20 years. The race drew seven candidates for two seats.

James Jackson and Richard E. Sebastian, a council incumbent, won the two seats. Sebastian was subsequently chosen vice chairman by the council.

The tribe said 56 percent of eligible voters took part in the election.
