San Manuel Band project feels pinch of economy
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California says the downturn in the economy has affected one of its development projects.

The tribe has had trouble lining up businesses for its mixed-use San Manuel Village. Tenants want to pay lower rent due to economic conditions, a developer for the tribe said.

Despite the slowing economy, the tribe is opening a Hampton Inn & Suites at the village. A Starbucks outlet and a nail salon already committed to the project.

"We're in this for the long term," Jacob L. Coin, the tribe's public affairs director, told The Riverside Press-Enterprise. "The economy always has its ups and downs."
