Native man killed in police shooting in Manitoba
A 26-year-old man from the Wasagamack First Nation was shot and killed by a police officer in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Police say Craig McDougall was armed with a knife when he was shot early Saturday morning. The incident is under investigation.

The First Nation is holding a press conference today to discuss the shooting. Less than two weeks ago, police in Winnipeg shot and killed a 17-year-old Native teen.

McDougall was a nephew of J.J. Harper, a Native man who was shot and killed by police in Winnipeg in 1988. The incident led to an inquiry into the treatment of Natives in the justice system.

Wasagamack is about 350 miles north of Winnipeg.
