New Mexico adopts Navajo language textbook
The state of New Mexico is the first in the nation to adopt a Navajo language textbook.

Starting in the fall of 2009, students at 10 public school districts and Bureau of Indian Affairs schools will use the book "Dine Bizaad Binahoo'aah," which means "Rediscovering the Navajo Language."

Evangeline Parsons Yazzie, a professor at Northern Arizona University, co-wrote the book. She hopes it will lead to an increase in Navajo usage among young people.
