Cheyenne River Reservation leads in child poverty
The Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation leads the nation in child poverty, according to a study from the Rural Life Center at South Dakota State University.

The center looked at U.S. Census Bureau data from 2005 and found that more than 70 percent of children in Ziebach County live in poverty. The reservation encompasses nearly the entire county.

South Dakota is home to nine reservations and has nine of the top 100 poorest counties in the U.S.
