California tribes adopt non-smoking policies
Two California tribes have adopted policies against smoking in public places.

The Yurok Tribe bans smoking within 25 feet of doorways, entry ways, and windows of tribal buildings. The Wiyot Tribe bans smoking in playground, picnic areas, sports, areas, and community event areas.

Government statistics show Native Americans in California and the Pacific Northwest smoke at higher rates than other Native Americans.
