Mohawk chief loses re-election by three votes
Lorraine White, one of the three chiefs of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York, lost her bid for re-election by three votes.

White could have asked for a recount but said she would heed voters' wishes. She will be replaced by Monica Jacobs.

White has pushed the tribe's proposal for an off-reservation casino in the Catskills.
