Oneida Nation seeks to purchase golf course
The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin wants to purchase a golf course that is in bankruptcy proceedings.

The general council -- consisting of all adult tribal members -- will consider the purchase of the 320-acre, 36-hole Thornberry Creek Golf Course on June 28. The purchase price was not disclosed.

The course is located in Hobart, a village on the reservation. Administrator Elaine Willman, the former leader of an anti-sovereignty group, said the village opposes the purchase because the tribe could seek to have the land placed in trust.
