Blackfeet election panel ousted, then reinstated
The election commission for the Blackfeet Nation of Montana was removed and reinstated -- all within 45 minutes on Friday.

The commission ruled that former council member Sam "Pat" Schildt wasn't eligible to run in the upcoming election. The decision didn't sit well with the tribal council, which ordered the firing of the commission after its members refused to put Schildt on the ballot.

Chairman Earl Old Person, however, ended up reinstating the commission, whose members finalized the ballot for the tribe's June 3 ballot later on Friday.
