Soboba man killed in gunfight on reservation

A 26-year-old member of the
Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians was killed on Thursday in a gunfight with
Riverside County, California sheriff's deputies.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise said the deputies were patrolling the reservation when they came under fire.
Eli Morillo was killed in the shootout that followed.
Morillo was the son of former Rosemary Morillo. His brother Peter Morillo, 27, was killed in a shootout with sheriff's deputies. in October 2002.
The reservation has seen a rash of violence and homicides in recent years. Chairman Robert Salgado said the
sheriff's department hasn't shared any information about the crimes.
"We're not here to overpower the Sheriff's Department. We're here to work with them," Salgado said in interview with the paper....
