Judge clears Oglala Sioux police in death lawsuit

A federal judge has cleared police officers for the Oglala Sioux Tribe for causing the death of a man on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Judge Andrew Bogue said the officers were not guilty of negligence for Nathan Dreamer's death on January 7, 2002. He said the officers were acting reasonably in pursuing Dreamer, who was a suspect in an attack on a woman.

Dreamer's mother claimed police officers rammed a patrol vehicle into Dreamer's car, causing it to crash.
