North Carolina Indians still upset with radio show

Some members of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina aren't accepting an apology from the the hosts of a radio show over remarks that disparaged Native Americans.

About 30 tribal members held a protest at the state Capitol on Monday against "Bob and the Showgram" on G-105. They are calling on advertisers to pull their funding from the radio station. Some have already done so in response to the controversy.

"Anderson Homes is an equal housing opportunity builder and employer, and such statements about any culture is offensive to our company and the people we build homes for. We as a company will not condone such racist and abusive behavior," one company said, NBC17 reported.

On on April 1 broadcast, Bob Dumas and two other co-hosts of "Bob and the Showgram" called Indian people as "lazy" and "inbred" and and specifically singled out Lumbees. The station and Dumas apologized and agreed to work with the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs to address Indian issues.
