Toddler shot in drive-by shooting on reserve

A 23-month old girl is in critical but stable condition after being shot in a drive-by shooting on the Samson Cree Nation in Alberta.

Asia Saddleback was in the kitchen of a rural home on the reserve when she was hit by gunfire on Sunday night. Two young men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Chief Marvin Yellowbird blamed the incident on gang violence and drugs on the reserve. A law enforcement official said 13 gangs operate in the area.
