Saginaw Chippewa council member fails drug test

A first-term council member for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan has reportedly failed two drug tests.

David Sowmick could be removed from office as a result. He goes before a tribal council hearing on April 30.

The tribe has required drug tests of political candidates since 1994. Sitting council members have to be tested twice a year. Sowmick is reportedly the first council member to fail the tests.
