Muscogee Nation considers DEA agreement

The Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma is considering an agreement to cross-deputize a tribal police officer with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The tribe would be the first in the U.S. to do so, Lighthorse Police Chief Jack Shackelford said. The tribal officer would act as a DEA Task Force agent and enable more sharing of information.

The tribe already has a cross-commission agreement with the Tulsa Police Department and is considering one with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control.
