The Rincon Band of Mission Indians is hosting a conference for Indian youth on Saturday.
Speakers include Rincon Chairman Mark Romero and Maggie Steele, who is Apache.
They hope to convince Indian youth to stay healthy and sober.
Organizer Wonona Martinez, a member of the Santa Ysabel of Digueno Indians, is motivated by her family's experience. Her 24-year-old daughter is serving a three-year prison sentence for a drunk-driving accident.
