Mohegan Tribe returns more than $600K to BIA

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is returning more than $600,000 in federal funds to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The tribe is returning $105,680 it received under a self-determination contract with the BIA. Another $518,440 from the same contract also will be returned.

The tribe asked the BIA to work with the United South and Eastern Tribes to make sure the money goes to the neediest tribes. The tribe also plans to return money it receives from the Indian Health Service.
