The Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, the Cowlita Tribe of Washington and the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island are among the recipients of conservation grants from the Interior Department.

The Iowa Tribe will use $62,604 to create a wildlife management plan for its conservation area. The area includes the Grey Snow Eagle House, an eagle rehabilitation center.

The Cowlitz Tribe will use $200,000 to help protect the endangered Columbian white-tailed deer. The deer will be relocated to Cottonwood Island.

The Narragansett Tribe will use $200,000 to restore wetlands in the Indian Cedar Swamp Brook. The brook is near the historic Narragansett Indian Church.

The grants were among $6.2 million awarded to 38 tribes in 19 states.
