Wife of late Nathan Hale to serve rest of term

The widow of the late Nathan Hale, who died on March 17, will serve the remainder of his term as vice chair of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation of North Dakota.

Evelyn Hale will be sworn in on March 27. She will serve eight months on the tribal council before a new election in the fall.

Hale was 58. He served on the tribal council starting in 2004 and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 22 years.
