University of Colorado to study Indian diabetes

The University of Colorado Denver has received a $4.2 million federal grant to study diabetes prevention and treatment among American Indians.

The grant is going to the used by the American Indian and Alaska Native Programs at the university's School of Medicine. Researchers will study the successful tribal diabetes management programs and help other programs achieve success.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is funding the research.
