Muscogee Nation creates secretary position

The first Secretary of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma took office last week.

Kevin Dellinger said his job will be similar to Oklahoma's secretary of state. He will explore business opportunities for the tribe in the U.S. and abroad.

“The first and most important aspect of the job will be to create an office for purpose of allowing incorporation under tribal law … so that any entities, foreign or domestic, can come in and do business with the nation,” Dellinger told The Journal Record. “This office will also be the lead agency to attract and encourage commerce with the nation.”

The tribe's biggest money maker is its gaming operation. Dellinger hopes to diversify.
